Love Monk Steals to Xiaoxiang Pavilion

大觀園內侍婢預備酒席待寶玉、寶釵及黛玉等人前來賞花品酌。寶玉冷落寶釵，卻對黛玉甚為親熱。時怪風刮起，寶玉似為風寒所侵，身上的通靈寶玉亦不翼而飛，賈母急命人扶他回房。寶玉臥病多天，昏迷間頻喚黛玉名字。賈府長輩欲為寶玉娶妻沖喜，並主張以寶釵配寶玉。黛玉偶然得知寶玉將娶他人，黯然吐血。時寶釵喜聞婚訊，前去探望寶玉，反被他驅趕。鳳姐為安撫寶玉，欺騙他將與黛玉成婚。大婚當日，寶玉驚見新娘並非黛玉，怒返怡紅院，時黛玉積怨成疾，在瀟湘館內焚毀詩稿及手絹。寶玉嗟歎被鳳姐擺佈，迷惘間見黛玉前來責問。侍婢來報黛玉死訊，寶玉極為悲傷，飛奔離去。寶玉決皈依佛法，出家前回瀟湘館追憶往事，賈府眾人聞聲趕來，寶玉已黯然離去。

Revisiting the Boudoir (a scene from the novel The Dream of the Red Chamber)

In the Garden of Grand View, maids are preparing a banquet for a young man, Baoyu, and two young ladies, Baochai and Daiyu. The trio arrives and enjoy the blooming flowers and wine. Baoyu seems to snubBaochai, but is rather genial to Daiyu. An ill wind blows away his jade talisman, and Baoyu becomes ill. His grandmother promptly removes the fragile boy to his chamber, where he utters Daiyu’s name as he goes in and out of his consciousness. The elders of his family decide to counter the evil by marrying Baoyu toBaochai. Overhearing their plans, Daiyu spits blood in distress. Baochai is enthused about the marriage, on the other hand, and she visits Baoyu, only to be dismissed. To console Baoyu, Fengjie falsely tells him thatDaiyu will be his bride. On the wedding day, shocked and disappointed by the switch, Baoyu returns to his rooms in a fury. A stricken Daiyu sets fire to her manuscripts and handkerchiefs in her boudoir.

Still sick in bed, Baoyu hallucinates that his lover has returned. Realizing Daiyu’s death, the thoroughly devastated young man abandons home in desperation. After joining the clergy, the monk revisits Daiyu’s boudoir for the last time, reminiscing about the earthly passions that formerly consumed him. His family gathers only to find his shadow.
